About

Background

My professional journey combines military service, technical leadership, business administration, and a commitment to helping others achieve meaningful change. With more than eight years of service in the United States Navy's nuclear electrical field, I developed a strong foundation in leadership, accountability, critical thinking, and systematic problem solving.

My transition into human services allowed me to apply those same principles in a different environment, one focused on helping individuals overcome barriers, develop practical skills, and establish stability in their lives.

At House of Mercy, I combine my experience in organizational leadership, program development, and career coaching to create meaningful opportunities for individuals navigating the challenges of reentry. My approach emphasizes personal accountability, continuous improvement, and empowering individuals to develop the skills necessary for lasting independence.

My Work at HOM

Focus Areas and

Expertise

As the Care Navigation Manager and Employment Specialist at House of Mercy, I serve in two complementary leadership roles that support participant success and organizational effectiveness.

As Care Navigation Manager, I provide operational oversight of the Care Navigation Department, manage and support care navigation staff, and offer guidance in conflict resolution and challenging participant situations. My responsibilities include strengthening communication, supporting staff development, promoting accountability, and ensuring participants receive consistent guidance throughout their involvement in the program.

As Employment Specialist, I lead the organization's employment services initiative, including the development and management of the Next Step Work Hub, a structured program designed to help justice impacted individuals overcome employment barriers, identify career opportunities, and establish sustainable career pathways.

My primary areas of expertise include:

  • Career Coaching for Reentry: Providing individualized career assessments, employment planning, professional resume development, interview preparation, and job search assistance.

  • Program Development and Performance Management: Designing structured services, establishing measurable performance indicators, and evaluating outcomes to improve program effectiveness.

  • Leadership and Staff Development: Managing care navigation personnel, providing professional guidance, strengthening accountability, and supporting effective team communication.

  • Conflict Resolution: Guiding staff through participant conflicts, challenging situations, and collaborative problem solving while maintaining professionalism, fairness, and accountability.

  • Employer and Community Partnerships: Developing relationships with employers and community organizations to expand career opportunities for justice impacted individuals.

  • Operational Improvement: Applying data analysis, strategic planning, and continuous improvement principles to enhance organizational performance and participant outcomes.

My leadership philosophy balances compassion with accountability, recognizing that sustainable progress requires both meaningful support and individual responsibility.

My Accomplishments

One of my most significant professional accomplishments has been developing House of Mercy's employment services program from the ground up. Through the Next Step Work Hub, I have supported more than 300 participants in their employment journeys, established employer partnerships, and introduced structured systems for evaluating employment readiness, monitoring progress, and measuring outcomes.

The program has achieved measurable success in helping participants transition into the workforce:

  • 70% of participants achieved employment within 90 days, demonstrating the effectiveness of structured employment preparation and individualized career coaching.

  • 96% of participants receiving employment services have secured meaningful employment, reflecting the program's commitment to helping individuals establish financial stability and independence.

Beyond employment services, my leadership experience includes managing operational teams, strengthening staff accountability, improving organizational processes, and implementing performance management strategies that enhance service delivery.

Before joining House of Mercy, I served approximately eight and a half years in the United States Navy, specializing in nuclear electrical systems, maintenance management, and technical supervision. During my military service, I led technical personnel, coordinated complex maintenance operations, and supported the reliability of mission critical equipment.

My Work in Action

Projects & Resources

I believe a person's past does not have to define their future. People are capable of meaningful growth and transformation when they are given an opportunity, the right resources, and the responsibility to take ownership of their decisions.

For individuals returning to society after incarceration, the path forward often includes significant barriers. Employment, housing stability, personal development, and community acceptance are all interconnected. Addressing these challenges requires more than simply providing services. It requires building practical pathways toward independence and long-term success.

What motivates me most is helping people recognize their potential and turn that potential into measurable progress. Whether that means securing a first job, developing a career, overcoming a setback, or discovering a renewed sense of purpose, every meaningful step forward matters.

I also believe that effective leadership means investing in the people who serve others. By supporting staff, encouraging professional growth, and helping teams navigate difficult situations, I can contribute to an environment where both participants and employees have the opportunity to succeed.

My goal is to create systems that empower people rather than create dependency, combining compassion with accountability and opportunity with personal responsibility.

Ultimately, I do this work because I believe in restoration, second chances, and the lasting impact that one meaningful opportunity can have on a person's life.
